About Bitter is the New Black : Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass,Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office - Book Description

Jen Lancaster was living the sweet life-until real life kicked her to the curb.

She had the perfect man, the perfect job-hell, she had the perfect life-and there was no reason to think it wouldn't last. Or maybe there was, but Jen Lancaster was too busy being manicured, pedicured, highlighted, and generally adored to notice.

This is the smart-mouthed, soul-searching story of a woman trying to figure out what happens next when she's gone from six figures to unemployment checks and she stops to reconsider some of the less-than-rosy attitudes and values she thought she'd never have to answer for when times were good.

Filled with caustic wit and unusual insight, it's a rollicking read as speedy and unpredictable as the trajectory of a burst balloon.

This is so funny. Loved it! The writer was brutally honest about herself...the good and the bad.

I found this a chore to read. I can see self involved, narcissistic morons on reality tv. I really don't find them interesting enough to read about.

At times this book was hard to read, because as foolish as some of the author's choices seemed at times, you were really rooting for her.

It was great and funny and enjoyable though. Jen Lancaster is witty and has a way with words.

Written by a verbal wit, more than a "writer." Aside from that, entertaining, funny, and full of good old fashioned irony. It's a good poolside read, easy to put down and a pleasure to pick back up.

So bad, so very, very, very bad, I returned it to the store so I could get my money back, which I never do, but I could not bare for a cent of my money to end up in the hands of the writer and publisher...
