A witty and inviting tale of secrets, seduction, and scorching passion from award-winning author Jillian Hunter.
What is a neglected wife to do while her husband disappears on clandestine missions and unknown gambits? Play the spy game herself, if only to fill lonely nights once flush with erotic delight. When Eleanor Prescott married the handsome infantry officer who pursued her between missions, she anticipated anything but a six-year estrangement. Now the enigmatic husband who fired her body with his sensual touch is back–to woo her, win her, and unwrap all her secrets.
Sebastien Boscastle is prepared for battle when it comes to his crumbling marriage, but not to catch his wife prowling about the night in disguise. And yet Eleanor’s game of espionage and seduction only heightens his devilish desire to reclaim every inch of her. From the back alleys of London to the silken sheets of the marital bed, Sebastien inflicts the sweetest of sensual assaults, ready to possess everything Eleanor is willing to surrender.
One of the things that sets Jillian Hunter apart from other romance authors is her witty stories. A Wicked Lord at the Wedding doesn't disappoint the reader and I found myself chuckling my way from beginning to end finding it hard to put down even for a few minutes.
Character development is excellent which is what we have come to expect from Jillian Hunter. She is so good at making these characters believable that we think they are part of our circle of friends. The one thing I was disappointed in was that we only saw Devon Boscastle and we didn't catch up with the rest of the Boscastle clan we met from previous books. I really look forward to hearing what the rest of the family has been up to and was a bit disappointed not to learn what has been happening with them. It was like going to a family reunion with half of the family gone! But aside from that there is nothing negative about this book. It's fun, it's exciting, it's erotic at times, and it will keep you turning pages as fast as you can read them!
Overall Jillian Hunter continues to excel as a writer and each of her books gets better as she continues the Boscastle saga. These characters and storylines keep you entertained and laughing to the point you can't wait to have your friends read them so you can discuss the book. These are definitely novels to put on your wish list and I can only hope Ms. Hunter would write a bit faster so we won't have so much time between publications!
NOTE: The author gave me an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review of this book. This review is also published on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
In the first three years of their marriage Sebastian Boscastle was more away from home than with his wife Eleanor. Three years ago he vanished while on an espionage mission. Eleanor missed her spouse but moved on.
Now in 1816 Sebastian has come home; having recovered from injuries to reclaim his spouse. He has heard rumors about her so he serendipitously watches her sneak out at night in male garb. She masquerades as the Mayfair Marauder trying to steal letters from traitors planning on harming Wellington. Sebastian decides to join his wife on her mission so that he can seduce this "gentleman" to join him in his bed.
The latest Boscastle Regency romance is a fabulous historical filled with pathos and wit as the lead protagonist must court the legendary Mayfair Marauder in order to re-earn the trust of his wife; he knows he has one advantage, which is love. Fans will appreciate this engaging tale as the intrepid Eleanor may still love her husband, but believes he will leave again so kicks him to the proverbial Mayfair curb. The fun in this enchanting Boscastle gender war is observing the wicked lord refusing to quit on love.
