As a research grunt at a local television station, Abby Baker tends to blend into the background, which is where she’s most comfortable. But when she ends up being the last resort to cover a hot story, Abby discovers a whole new side to her personality when she is possessed by a fiend—a type of rogue demon. Suddenly everyone wants a piece of her. And now the demon Rule—also a hunter of his own kind who have gone astray—is Abby’s only hope…
Meanwhile, the Others—vampires, werewolves, and witches, oh my!—have come out of the supernatural closet and the rest of the humans are all aflutter. Mischief is afoot in the demon realm, and Rule knows that Abby is key to figuring it all out before the fiends tip the fragile balance between the newly-discovered Others and the humans over into an epic battle. Now it’s up to two lost souls to make love, not war…..
I read the first two books in this series and really liked them. The female protagonists in the first two books were equal to the main male characters, are female role models, and stood up for themselves. I could understand their point of view. The female character in this book was very disappoining. She was short-sighted, selfish, and illogical. Could someone be that stupid, even if they had never come across any Others? Even when she and Rule got together (as if anything else could happen), I couldn't care less about them emotionally, and I skimmed the sex scenes. Anyone who knows me, knows it has to be bad then. Been there, done that, moving on to plot, but still not satisfied. So like the previous reviewer, right guy, wrong woman. How could she not see the writing on the wall, unless the author did it in order to have a plot.....? By the time she "smartens up" I don't even care. Too formulaic. So if you have never read anything by Christine Warren, please read the previous books. If you want to continue the series, be forewarned to be unsatisfied, or don't think you will miss anything to skip it and go on to the next (hopefully better? ) one.
Ok, this author doesn't get to me. I ordered the first three books of "The Others", and I read them because I had payed for them, but... the first one, Wolf at the door, turned out to be really disappointing. The second one, She's not faerie princess, was better, and I enjoyed it, but this one... it fell down the hill. Didn't like this one either. I don't know, it's kind of previsible, you're in no doubt the good guys are going to save the day, and that the females will be talking about their mates, how they mated to them and how they are some kind of "females united" to help each other out to withstand the rampages of their mates when they fall to it. Exactly like the two books that go before this one.
Maybe you read it and you enjoy it, but I dind't like it. The characters are somewhat plain, somehow without deep of character... maybe with more pages, or with more struggle, they will result on something with more deeps, but as it is... I dont' recommend it.
And also the plot seems conveniently tied up, and like it happended to me with the first one of the series, somewhat rushed.
Don't want to be harsh on the author, anyway, just because I dind't like it. I supoose some people willl like it, but not me. Sorry.
I have the first three of the series. The fourth one is about Noah. I liked the man when he was introduced, I think I have the book in my Wishlist, but I don't know if I ever will buy it... I don't want another disappointment with this series... because I have only really liked one of the three books I have read...
I bought her first paperback, Wolf At The Door because of the fun cover...and what a find!! This author has an excellent sense of humor, and has built this paranormal world that ROCKS!! There are witches, and shape shifters, and Vampires, and Fae...and Demons...you name it, she's probably got it out there somewhere. The Demon You Know is a great book...but I have to admit that if you read the whole series, you'll find yourself sucked in to an even deeper degree. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next...she can't write these fast enough for me.
The unfortunate thing is that the majority of this series is only available from Ellora's Cave, as E books. The DO have one in print, and I and hoping that soon they will all be in print. I don't have an e reader...but I liked her print books so much, I bought the e books and printed them out so I'd have them~~they're that awesome!!
If you're a paranormal fan, you WANT these books. Don't miss out one more day on this awesome world she's built...you'll want to live here!!
