The Upper East Side metrosexual may be good at cocktail chat, but a real man knows how to fight off alligators, create a tourniquet out of a t-shirt, and rescue a drowning person. Frank Miniter's The Ultimate Man's Survival Guide shows men how to do all of these and more, including:
* how to fight off a bear * how to set a dislocated joint * how to pick the perfect cigar and bottle of wine
Presented in seven sections--survivor, provider, athlete, hero, romantic, cultured man, and philosopher--Miniter teaches guys the skills, attitudes, and philosophies they need to be the ultimate man. Clearly written and packed with real-life anecdotes, as well as line-drawings and how-to illustrations, The Ultimate Man's Survival Guide teaches men that any guy can be the ultimate man whether he is rescuing a lost hiker, plucking a child from a swift stream, or standing up against injustice.
This book is how you teach important survival lessons: Make it interesting, even fun; and make it relevant to everyone. Too many "survival" books are dull texts that few have the time or patience to read until they actually need the advice. By then it's too late. Miniter's book, in contrast, is fun and entertaining, and makes survival a fascinating topic. Whether you're lost in the wilderness or trying to survive a potentially awkward social situation, this book prepares you to emerge with your image and self-confidence not only intact, but enhanced. (We all should have learned that goal from watching James Bond, Jimmy Stewart or Clint Eastwood.) By combining real-life examples, thoughtful quotes and fascinating facts, "The Ultimate Man's Survival Guide" ensures you keep reading as you prepare yourself for life's unending challenges, wherever and whenever they arise.
I have always been a fan of Frank Miniter's writing. He is clear, concise and never minces words. That's what makes him fun to read and this book is definitely fun - and let's face it, even guys that think they are real men still need a little help when it comes to fighting off a bear! It is a great book full of enjoyable, fast paced reading. And you are sure to learn something useful - something that may just save your life or the life of someone you love.
Gentlemen, this book will draw you in. Every time I had to put it down, I looked forward to opening it back up again to learn something new. Very interesting, very easy to read and tons of great information.
